Haitian Relief UpdateFebruary 5, 2010

When the Haitian Relief promotion came out, I almost didn't post details, because I figured everyone would want to help in their own way, but I decided that if just one person saw my post and chose this stamp set over another one, then someone in need would benefit.

Workshop Fun

When my good friend Terri asked me to do a workshop for her, I decided to make a scrapbook page part of my demonstration.

Terri is a huge scrapbooker and it gave me the greatest pleasure to hand this completed page to her (one of the benefits of being a hostess with me).

Of course at a workshop it would be too time consuming for everyone to make scrapbook pages and so we made the coordinating card.


When I designed this page for Terri, I was thinking of her beautiful daughter who was little more than a wonderful toddler when we met and is now blossoming into a beautiful High Schooler. I imagined Terri using black and white pictures to show how her daughter has changed (black and white because she wouldn't have to try and coordinate clothes from times ten years apart) Black and white pictures will really pop with these colors .....

Yikes, I couldn't believe it, last week Terri called me to say that they are moving to the other side of the country, I'm thrilled for their new adventure but so sad that they won't be close by.

I guess the title of this page was just about perfect!

Things that really made this page work well for me were the fact that we now have a butterfly punch, so I didn't need to cut out all the butterflies. I love how the polka dot ribbon mimics the polka dots on the little butterflies. The saying in this stamp set is more poignant than I could have imagined and I love that I could use my Autumn days stamp set on a page that reminds me of Spring.

Important Big Shot Die Information!

VERY IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION!

At the weekend I was using my Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embolsslits Die and I notice that the hinge was beginning to deteriorate.

Now, anyone who knows me, also knows that I absolutely love this die and I don't know what I'd do without it and so today I called Demonstrator Support and they will be replacing my die. Soooo, here's the important part in all of this......

My die would have been fine if I had only used it differently. Apparently, when you run the die through your big shot hinge first, it puts too much pressure on the hinge and so you need to turn it through ninety degrees so that the hinge is not parallel to the opening you pass the die through and so that the hinge is on the opposite side of the big shot to the Big Shot handle.

Clear Block Stamps

I was absolutely stunned by the positive reaction my ladies had to our new style of stamps. Remember the wood mount block aren't going anywhere, but I wanted to show you our newest friend a little more closely......

Full instructions can also be found on the inside cover of the stamp case.

Because images in our catalogs are actual size unless otherwise specified, you can just take out a ruler and measure the image to see which size block you need for the stamp set you are purchasing.

Blocks can be purchased as single items so that you can collect them a few at a time, or you can by the complete set at a discount.

Once you've made the investment for the blocks, you'll be delighted because in many cases the stamp sets to go with the clear blocks are significantly less expensive.

Each block has beautifully rounded corners and edges and each one has a letter on the block to correspond with the size.

When your stamp set arrives, push out the image of your choice - as in the above picture...

Match your stamp to the corresponding image on the sheet that's enclosed. The cover paper over the image has a slit down the middle so that you can remove the protective cover from the transfer.....

Turn the stamp over and remove the protective coating to reveal the sticky cushion....

Place the sticky cushion side on top of the transfer and press down firmly to adhere the transfer...

Attach the stamp to your chosen block size with the transfer side on the block.....

Turn the block over and you'll see what you are ready to stamp.....

When it was time to clean my stamps, I attached all my stamps to one block and cleaned them all in one go on my Stampin' Scrub - AWESOME!

My challenge last year was that many of my customers are primarily card makers and probably wouldn’t take a second look at a “scrappin’ kit”. I also have a number of customers who are scrapbookers and don’t make cards and then there is the group who do both and so l created two fun classes – one using rub ons and one using our now retired Best Ever Simply Scrappin’ Kit – The response to my classes was beyond anything I ever expected or hoped for – Coast to Coast and around the globe – I was stunned!

Celebrating One Year

On Tuesday January 17th, 2009 I launched my blog. It's been an amazing year of adventures and a huge amount of work, but I've absolutely loved sharing my journey with you.

It takes a number of hours each week to keep my blog updated and of course there's a lot of time spent making projects to share with you and photography etc.

My question to you is - One year on - do you enjoy my blog and would you like me to continue sharing it with you?

I'm going to take the next two weeks off from blog entries with the exception of the occasional Stampin' Up! updates.

Easter Giggle

Did you know that Stampin' Up! now sells some single stamps? I particularly love this Bunny from the Occasions Mini.

The card below was inspired by a card I saw a few months ago.

For this project I created the entire background using the fabulous My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up! The bunny was embossed using chocolate chip craft ink (it's sticky ink perfect for embossing), then I sprinkled clear detail embossing powder and heated it to give the bunny a shiny chocolate effect.

Do please leave a comment, I need cheering up, my Mom's (in England) dear husband has just been diagnosed with liver cancer and right now England feels a million miles away with the waters of the Atlantic Ocean never reaching the shore. I wish I could be there to hug everyone and put an end to dreadful news, but as they say "if nothing ever changed, we wouldn't have butterflies" and so we must accept these new challenges and hope that the winds of change are kind to those we love. Please include Poppa John in your prayers - he's a lovely person with a heart as big as anyone I've ever known.

Heart Inspiration From London Seminar

Over the past few days I've shared some of the inspiration I carried home with me from the London seminar last winter. I hope you've enjoyed my little trip down memory lane.


This is another card totally inspired by what I saw at the London seminar. I wish there was another one close to home this year. One year on I'm still being inspired by what I saw. Stampin' Up! events are always awesome and a huge benefit of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!

Have You Ever Ordered A Stamp Set Because You Want To Make One Card?

I saw the inspiration for this card at the London Seminar last winter and ordered the stamp set just so that I could create a card like this.

It took a while for me to get around to making it, but I'm glad I waited because since I saw the original idea Stampin' Up! have introduced the butterfly punch and so I didn't have to cut out a single butterfly.


You know what's really wonderful about this card? When a slight breeze passes by these butterflies, they flutter and when the sun is streaming in through the windows their shadows flutter too. It's fabulous, I wish you could see it!

Haiti Disaster ReliefJanuary 18, 2010

On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin′ Up! demonstrators stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different. Already we have received many calls and e-mails from demonstrators asking what Stampin′ Up! is planning and how they can help. We are currently developing a disaster relief plan so that together we can contribute to the aid of those who continue to suffer in the aftermath of this disaster. We will release details in the next few days, so please check back often and be prepared to lend a hand when the plan has been finalized.

Stamp Club Project January 2010

I saw an idea for a card at the London regional seminar last year. It's taken me almost a year to get around to sharing it with my ladies.

The card below was my first attempt, as you can see it didn't turn out the best, but look below and see what happens if you try, try and try again.....

Below is the project I made with my stamp club ladies on Saturday. Projects like this just have to be shared.

I used the fabulous new emboslit die in the Occasions mini, so I didn't have to cut out a single butterfly, it was all done for me.

Since posting this project I've been inundated with requests for how to create it and dimensions....Sooooo, here goes:

Lay a piece of card stock in your paper trimmer with card landscape. Score at 5.5", then score three times on each side of the middle score line each score line is 0.5" apart. Fold like a fan. Turn card over. Imagine that the folds are hills and valleys. With the valley in the middle (the mountain will be on reverse side), place sticky strip on every other fold, remove first strip and push together with the fold next to it, then remove the next one and do the same and finally do the last one. Flip the card over and stick your window sheet strips randomly in folds using two way glue pen or glue dots. Cut to length, depending on the item you decide to attach to each "arm" - be sure to make sure they aren't sticking outside the side of the card if you want it to fit in an envelope.

I did not have any instructions for this card, I just saw something like it and made up my own dimensions and after a few different tries I came up with this method and these measurements. I'm sure there are other dimensions and ways to achieve the same thing.
